Kendo Instructor James Perry Zammit: SANDAN (3rd dan); is the highest registered kendo instructor in Malta, and has ties with Kodokan UK www.kodokankendo.org.uk , The European Kendo Federation www.ekf-eu.com, and with the British Kendo Association www.kendo.org.uk . He is the first Maltese to be graded as 1st, 2nd & 3rd Dan, the first Maltese member of the EKF, and as the Founder of the Maltese Kendo Federation paved the way for the development of Maltese Kendo for other fellow kendoka to follow in his foot steps. James has devleoped his Kendo under the guidance of Kendo Instructor Sensei Paul Budden 7th Dan and by attending EVERY YEAR SINCE 2004 THE HIGHLY ACCLAIMED AND SUCCESFUL international Kodokan UK seminar.
Sensei Paul Budden 7th Dan Renshi, is the Kendo Bucho of the British Kendo Association, and has a Level 2 award in Coaching Studies from the University of Gloucester. He is also the author of Looking at a Far Mountain : A Study of Kendo Kata. Since 2003, Sensei Budden has been, is and will continue to be influential for the development of Maltese Kendo and for this, we owe him alot.
On each occassion of attendance of at the KODOKAN Seminar, Sensei Zammit has recieved instruction from the the highly respected, All Japan Kendo Federation (AJKF or ZNKR), international Kendo Master Masatake Sumi Sensei 8th Dan Hanshi. Sumi Sensei is a Professor of physical education at Fukuoka University of Education, Fukuoka Prefecture, Kyushu, Japan. He is also the AJKF representative for referees in Asia. ![]()
