2008 July 16th to 19th - MKI hosting of the the MKF Annual summer seminar, with top instructors, Budden Sensei 7thDan Renshi, Matsumoto Sensei 7th Dan Kyoshi, & Matsuda Sensei 5th Dan Ladies British Team Coach. 4 day seminar of quality kendo instruction with a grading held on Saturday 19th with all 8 students passsing their Ikkyu grade. Ikkyu grade is an international recognised grade.
July 3 week Visit by Sensei Paul Budden, invited by the Malta Kendo Institute. For three weeks Sensei Budden will be in Malta for his 5th time.
JUNE Saturday 28th KYU GRADE SHIAI COMPETITIONS Open to member's of the Maltese Kendo Federation Any Kyu grade can apply - a step towards the European and World Kendo Cup Kendo Weekend in Gozo - 2nd, 3rd & 4th May WEEKEND! This year's Maltese Kendo Federation spring seminar will be in Gozo. We have been invited to bepart of the GOZO 1234 festival which is hapening from thursday May 1st to Sunday the 4th. Practice is scheduled as follows: Friday 9pm to 10.30pm at the Rabat Sports Complex, Saturday 1pm to 5.30pm at the Rabat Sports Complex, Sunday Morning @ sunrise - Kata practice on Ramla Hamra sandy beach, Sunday from 4pm to 5.30 pm at the Rabat Sports Complex. This seminar is the first of three seminars to be organised by the Maltese Kendo Federation on behalfof its members. MKF members that have paid their annual fee attend at no extra cost. This is part of the MKF's commitment and dedication to the promotion and practice of good will kendo as recognised by the All Japan Kendo Federation
April: Kendo demonstration for the official innaugural ceremony of the Malta Japan Society, kendo demo of 30 minutes held at the Phoenicia Hotel
March: Demonstration at Golden Sands Radisson Hotel and opening of ceremony
February 08: MKI is contacted and commisioned for the opening of a conference for 1000 delegates at the main conference theatre hall at the Hilton Hotel
2007 December: Christmas Seminar and compteitions September - the Knights of Maltakendo club is now recognised as the Malta Kendo Institute. Practice is in new venues.
August: Maltese contingent of 4 attend Kodokan Seminar and grade for Shodan, Nidan and Sandan.
July: 2 week visit by Sensei Budden 7th Dan,Senai Kazuyo Matsuda 5th Dan Uk Bristish Ladies Team Coach
June - Visit by Trevor Chapman 5th Dan and a member of the BKA Kendo Bu
April: 5th from 5pm to 10pm Easter Seminar
2006 December 26th Boxing Day: Xmas Kendo Bash - half day seminar with competition, followed by christmas party
October: University Kendo Club begins
August: Two maltese attend the 21st Kodokan Seminar, Mr Wightman Grades as Shodan, and Mr Zammit wins in competition
July: Asa Geiko practice at 7.30am Mondays and Fridays begin in preparation for the Kodokan Seminar, doubling the number of lessons at our club.
April/May Malta - 3rd KOM Kendo seminar Instructed by Sensei Budden 6th Dan Renshi and assisted by Matsuda Sensei 5th Dan. Club Gradings: Mr Ivan Grech grades as Ikkyu.
April Kendo Demonstration at the University Campus of Malta for Sports Day
April We recieve sets of Kendo armour sponsored by Sensei Paul Budden - our gratitude
March Kendo Demonstration during the 24 hour Martial Arts Marathon at Bay Street in St Julians
March 2006 Kendo Demonstration at the Kickboxing Competitions at the Cottonera Sports Centre
2005 October we recieve a visit by Sensei Steve Bihop 5th Dan. :) Thanks Bishop for a great lesson.
August James Perry Zammit attends the 20th Kodokan Seminar and Grades as Nidan
June Malta visit by the Japanese Navy Kendo Squadron, 14 in all and 8 of us Maltese. An intense afternoon of goodwilll kendo, that we all cherished. The contact was all thanks to Sensei Budden from the UK.
May Malta - 2nd KOM Kendo seminar Instructed by Sensei Budden 6th Dan Renshi and assisted by Matsuda Sensei 5th Dan and UK's highest graded female kendoka. Club Gradings: Mr Jim Wightman grades as Ikkyu.
